With over 25 years of experience, Chef Eddie Allen will keep your taste buds dancing while you anticipate the next great experience. His cuisine definitely compliments the "Western Experience" you’ll find at the Bar Lazy J Guest Ranch. 

Using only the freshest ingredients, Chef Eddie and his staff work tirelessly on your behalf to prepare three fresh and hearty meals a day, which are part of your all-inclusive dude ranch vacation. According to former dude ranch guest Karen Ruby, "It all tastes better in the mountains!"

Breakfast

When you wake to the cool Colorado air and the sunny skies, you are overwhelmed by a sense of relaxation you haven't felt in a long time. As you sip your coffee on your private porch and watch the Colorado River waters go by, you think that things couldn’t get much better than this. Your stomach gently growls itself awake and you know it is time to stroll over to the historic lodge where a warm breakfast awaits you. You are greeted by the friendly staff and met by the welcoming aroma of wholesome cooking.  Pancakes, eggs made to your liking, homemade breads, bacon, sausage and much more will prepare you for a lively day on the dude ranch. 

Lunch

After your morning on your horse, you’ll join us back at the dude ranch's screened-in river porch overlooking the Colorado River to refuel for the rest of your day. Our substantial buffet lunches have something for everyone. You will pile your plate high with the variety of choices that look too good to pass up. Each day Chef Eddie will surprise you with his ever-changing menu. Each lunch is accompanied by a complete salad bar and dessert bar. And, don’t forget that all of the meals are accompanied with delights such as homemade breads, pastries, and desserts. So try and save some room!

Dinner

After winding down from your day on the ranch, you’ll join the other guests in our historic lodge for dinner. There you will be met by a savory meal that will leave your taste buds asking for more. Some examples of our dinners include: steak bar-be-que, grilled salmon and swordfish, cornish game hen, buffalo, rainbow trout, prime rib and so much more! Share your stories and laughs from the day’s activities and plan your next day’s adventure.

Trust us – you won’t leave hungry. Ranchers definitely know how to eat!

Throughout the Day

Fresh fruits, coffee, tea, water and lemonade are always available. And, don’t forget to visit our unforgettable bottomless cookie box!

Special Requests

Please note that since our own family is split between meat and non-meat eaters, we recognize and appreciate guests' variance in appetites and dietary needs. With advance notice, we will do our best to accommodate your preferences during your dude ranch vacation.

If you would like seconds at any meal, please don’t hesitate to ask – we always have plenty.  And, should you be enjoying one of the off-site activities during lunch or dinner, please let us know and we’ll provide you and your family a packed meal.
